Family-Friendly Entertainment Right Around the Corner: Metro West Edition!

November 5, 2012

No matter where you live in the Boston metro area, there are family-friendly activities to be found, regardless of the season. As the cooler weather sets in, you may be in search of kid-approved entertainment for your family. We’ve given you our best tips in the North Shore, and we’ve got some ideas in the metro west suburbs as well!

The Children’s Discovery Museum in Acton is an indoor, three-floor adventure set in a Victorian house filled with tons of surprise twists, turns, and nooks. Each area of the house has activities for different age and skill levels. If bubble walls, wobbly bridges, and choo-choo trains sounds like your child’s idea of fun, check out this treasure of a museum.

For a quieter day, still filled with learning opportunities, visit the Barefoot Books Studio in Concord. Barefoot Books is more than just a bookstore. They offer loads of activities for children, such as readings, videos, and pottery painting! They even teach kids yoga, foreign languages, and music. Their events calendar is sure to have something lined up almost everyday to keep your little ones entertained.

And for something really unique, check out SAMM Entertainment in Sudbury. This theater offers not only performances for children of all ages, throughout the year, but they also cast kids of every age in their shows, and offer classes in voice, ballet, tap, and jazz, and even in scenes and monologues for older kids. Visit SAMM for just a show, or tap into your child’s knack for performance by trying a class or two!

Tell us, Boston moms and dads, what are your favorite activities west of Boston? We know this area is a draw for city parents and parents from the North and South Shores, and we’d love to hear your ideas!
