Family Friendly Entertainment Right Around the Corner: Our South Shore Edition!

November 9, 2012

There’s no shortage of fun, kid-oriented activities on the South Shore. In the warm weather, beaches and hiking and camping beckon. But in the colder weather, the area is still loaded with activities ranging from creative exploration and interactive learning to physical activity and exertion!

The Easton Children’s Museum is packed with fun, interactive activities for you and your family. Their Space Ship and Command Center allows your kids to experience virtual space exploration, complete with those little extras that kids love, like helmets you can wear and model rockets you can build yourself. Your children can also learn about various creatures including Dinosaurs in the Dinosaur Den, or insects and other animals in The Wild Place. And the museum even provides families with activities they can do at home on a rainy day!

Imagination Island is a great place to exercise your child’s mind and body! The tropical-themed, indoor play space offers a Pirate’s Ship, pretend cafes and boutiques, and an ever-popular bounce house. The staff is mindful of safety and hygiene, and has rules and infrastructure that make for a fun and safe day for everyone. And when your little ones need to refuel, there is a kid-friendly cafe in house to boost energy levels and keep kids from melting down!

Old Colony Music Together operates music and dance facilities in a variety of locations throughout the South Shore. Geared toward kids aged five and under, Music Together offers classes that introduce kids, and their parents, to rhythm, melody, instruments, and dance. Whether your child is drawn to the drums, loves to move to the beat, or isn’t quite sure he’s got the same rhythm as some of the others in the class, Music Together encourages a love of music and movement in every child, and gets little kids ready for music classes and instrumental learning that takes place once full-time school begins.

So, as the cool weather sets in, don’t despair. There are plenty of activities to keep your family entertained throughout the winter on the South Shore. And South Shore moms and dads, please let us know if there’s anything we’re missing! What do you do on a chilly Saturday afternoon south of Boston?
