Five Reasons to be Thankful This Thanksgiving

November 23, 2012

Last night at Thanksgiving dinner, as you helped yourself to a second helping of stuffing and mashed potatoes in lieu of your usual glass or two of wine, you and your family were likely feeling very grateful for the baby you’re expecting! Here are a few more reasons to feel especially thankful this year.

1. Family. As the holiday season approaches and your due date looms ahead, your family is going to figure into your life even more than usual. Soak up their love, support, and excitement during this time.

2. Time. Whether you’re in your first trimester or your third, feel grateful for the months or weeks you have left in your pregnancy. Take some time to feel excited about what the future holds, steal a nap, and impulse-purchase another adorable onesie from Target.

3. Your kids. If you already have a kid or three, revel in their unique personalities, their funny habits, and the sweet things they say. Relish your family dynamic before it changes when you usher in your newest, precious addition!

4. If you’re reading this, you have internet, and therefore electricity. And probably running water and access to basic healthcare. Feel grateful for the resources you have that will help to ensure your health and your baby’s health. Even in tumultuous times, we can appreciate the basics.

5. Your body. How amazing are you? Getting pregnant, providing a safe and healthy home for your baby during these nine months, and preparing for childbirth and motherhood are all signs of strength and capability. Be thankful for what your body can (and will!) do!

What did you feel thankful for last night as your family toasted over the Thanksgiving turkey? Share with us. A little gratitude goes a long way!
